BIOPSY
- The department deals with processing of biopsy tissues received from various departments to prepare a histological section which can be viewed under a microscope so as to reach to a definitive diagnosis.
- It undergoes various steps like Fixation, tissue processing, embedding, section cutting, staining and microscopy.
EXFOLIATIVE CYTOLOGY
Simple, can be used to detect Premalignancy and various other lesions. It involves these steps followed by staining
FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION CYTOLOGY
Obtaining material from body cavity, cystic space or fluid containing lesion. Material is smeared on a slide, fixed & stained.
VITAL STAINING
This includes Toluidine blue staining for detection of precancerous lesions
MANUAL HEMATOLOGY PROCEDURES
Hemoglobin estimation, random and fasting blood sugar, bleeding time, clotting time, total and differential leukocyte count, blood group determination, urine analysis, HIV & HbSAg determination.
