The Department is concerned with treatment of the jaw and teeth by means of various removable and fixed appliances.

The various treatment modalities followed in the department which are updated to deal with recent advances includes:

1. Removable appliances: Used for treatment of mild orthodontics problems and also as retentive plates after treatment completion to prevent relapse.

2. Myofunctional appliances: Used in growing patients to treat skeletal problems by guiding the facial and oral musculature forces.

3. Fixed functional appliances: Used for patients with skeletal problems for results in a short duration of time compared to removable appliances

4. Functional jaw orthopedics: Use of facial and skeletal anchorages with the help of extra-oral orthopedic appliances to correct jaw discrepancies.

5. Molar distalisation: Mostly used in space creations to correct crowding cases with a non-extraction approach.

6. Expansion appliances: Screws used for opening the sutures which help creating space in the arch for correction of transverse problems and minor crowding.

7. Begg’sand pre edgewise adjusted appliances: Widely used system for the ease of clinician and to attain good results in cases with dental discrepancies.

8. MBT System of brackets: Among the recent advances in the field of orthodontics for the ease of the clinician and achieve good results with keeping it simple sir principle. Having a variety of bracket materials including metal, ceramic,self-ligating brackets etc.

9. Lingual orthodontics: Highly esthetic mode of treatment to cope up with the increasing wave of dentistry towards esthetics.

10. Temporary anchorage devices: Stabilizing devices like mini implants used during orthodontic treatment to prevent anchor loss.

11. Adult orthodontics: The increasing trend towards orthodontic treatment has lead to more number of adults seeking orthodontic treatment which is very well dealt with the help of various treatment modalities available to correct fully grown individuals.

12. Orthognathic surgery: Severe skeletal cases are dealt with various surgical approaches such as BSSO, GENIOPLASTY etc.

13. Cleft orthodontics: A team effort to provide all-round treatment for patients with cleft lip and palate.
